Third Fleet is one of seven numbered fleets in the U.S. Navy. Naval Forces trained by Third Fleet normally deploy to the Western Pacific/Indian Ocean for duty with Commander, Seven Fleet and to the Arabian Gulf region for duty in the support of Commander, U,S, Naval Forces Central command Forces certified as "ready to deploy" at the conclusion of Third Fleet training depart fully prepared to face a full range of mission from humanitarian and peacekeeping operation to full engagement in major regional conflicts.
Third Fleet's area of responsibility includes 50 million square miles of eastern and northern Pacific Ocean area including the Bering Sea, Alaska, the Aleutian Island and a sector of the Arctic Ocean.
